Results Options

Configure canned texts as Results Options

Results Type

The AS Results Options tab evolved from a simple page to set up text results options such as Detected and Not Detected, to a page where all manner of results types can be configured

Current types include:

  • Numeric (default)
  • Date
  • DateTime
  • Text
  • Selection list
  • Multiple Selection
  • Time Series (if you have that installed)

Select it from the Results Type lookup

String. Text

Short texts are best captured in String Analyses. Text allows for longre multiple row entries, paragraphs

Date. DateTime

Analyses results of this type can be captured from date and time pickers at runtime

Selection Lists

Some Analysis Services requiring text input as results, are best limited to a number of known possible outcomes to prevent typos and irrelevant input skewing reporting

Use 'Selection list' for Analyses that have distinct outcomes, e.g, Micro-organism Detections

The numerical value is used in out-of-range calculatrions, see overleaf

At runtime, the user is offered onlt these results options

'Multiple Selection' facilitates results that can be a combination of terms, Aroma in wine:

'Multiple choice' produces the same but rendered with check boxes

Out of Range Results Options

The numeric value for result options can be used in combination with Bika's Analysis Specification architecture to alert users to OOR, Out of Range, results

For example, an Analysis Service Covid

Detection can be configured with text and numeric result options:

  • Negative, -1
  • Indeterminable, 0
  • Positive, 1

When the OOR result Positive is detected, it gets numeric value of and if it is compared with a valid range < 0 in the analysis' specification, an alert will be raised for the positive detection of the Covid virus in the sample

Results Variables

Sometimes more variables than just the results need to be capture  per Analysis measurement. Where a Sample is made up of many components and tested for a few parameters, and the result is reported as an Average, but Sample Size, Min, Max and SD are recorded

Configure these variables on the lower half of the ASs Results Options page

Set the Allow empty, Unit, Report, Hidden and Apply wide as you would for Calculations

All these can then be capture at run time and included in COA templates as applicable

Time Series Results

See the use of Results Options for setting up Time Series type Analysis services
