The Lab and its Contacts

The lab

It can be difficult to find the lab's setup page, it is listed on the Setup page under the lab's name

Provide all the standard information prompted for and select a lab Syupervisor from the Lab Contacts - this person's name and signature can be used on COAs

If you have the Invoices module iunstalled, also provide the email adress at the lab's accounting department where invoices will be mailed to

On the Accreditation tab, provided the lab's accreditation information

Don't forget to upload an accreditation logo to be used on COAs

Lab departments

Configure the lab departments from the corresponding button in the Setup. Department managers are often used as signatories on COAs for the Analyses assigned to them. Select a manager for each Department, and a Department for each Analysis Service

Human Resources

Apart from the technical user authorisation and security explained in the previous paragraphs, the lab maintains staff records in the LIMS DB too with a extra attributes, e.g., if the lab manager or responsible department heads have to sign COAs, their signatures can be loaded here

Labmanagers administrate these from the [Lab Contacts] button in the Setup

Creating and editing Lab Contacts

Navigate to Lab Contacts from the LIMS setup area, click add for new contact, or on an existing one to edit him/her

Provide the user's full name, user name and email address in the fields provided, and other fields of interest. Press [Save]
