Clients could do these themselves
Bika's design aims to remove admin loads in the labs and for Clients to maintain their own Contacts, preferences and Templates
Most labs prefer labmanagers to do the initial registration after an application and approval process, and then hand over to them, referring to these manual pages, or distributing their own client user guides
On the client records, tabs are available to edit the client's contact and address information, contact people and preferences, as well as its Sample Points, Profiles, Sample Templates, Specifications and Sampling Round Templates
Their Transactions lists are populated later: Batches, Analysis Requests, Imports, Samples, Sampling Rounds and Supply Orders. More about them later
Client Preferences
On the Client's Preferences tab a number of items can be set up:
- An email address that will always be cc'd with COAs, typically a QC manager at the Client
- For the Sample Registration form, which Analysis Categories the client will be restricted to
- Which decimal mark to use
Removing Clients
To maintain database integrity, you will not be able to delete Clients but only deactivate them and their Contacts individually to exclude them from view. This also maintains traceability, and contains data clutter. Deactivated Clients are listed on 'Inactive' lists from where they may be reactivated again
To deactivate a client, select it from the clients list, check the corresponding box, and press the [deactivate] button. They may be re-instated later
