Bika Open Source Biobank. Call for Participation
The code should preferably only be officially released after Sample Storage functionality has been improved - this work has recently started based on the completion of Inventory Management features from Bika's 2015 Google Summer of Code participation, using five tier Storage positions. For freezers and LN storage respectively: Room - Freezer/Tank - Shelf/Canister - Box/Cane - Box/Cane position. |
Please put forward suggestions of how you see the ideal Sample Storage management function. And point out potholes to avoid. Please refer the Sample flows 1, 2 and 3, and others you may think of. The brown arrows represent the BioBank workflow additions to standard Bika Health. Call for participationIf at the same time you or your organisation want to contribute towards further customisations and enhancements for your specific requirements, please participate. The diagram above illustrates the project objectives. More resources, 'cattle or code', are required to speed things up. With the above structure in place, interfacing other storage and peer applications are low hanging fruit. Bika employs a RESTful JSON API and is geared for multiple ontologies.
